Breakfast and Tea Time

Jin Patisserie: a great place to stop and collect yourself with a cup of tea and some tasty pastries (including great French Macarons). I had the opportunity to go last week with some talented ladies that I really only know because of the internet.

We also ate breakfast together at 3 Square Bakery. It was salty, crunchy, delicious:

What delicious things dd you eat over the weekend?

Great Minimal Decor: Axe in Venice

Axe in venice is one of my favorite lunch spots. Now that I don't live in venice it's a great excuse to meet my dad there for a rice bowl with chicken. The food is delicious--a fusion of asian and fresh farmers market ingredients. Get there early and beat the lunch rush.

I really appreciate how minimal they've kept the space. The wood ceiling with the simple light track, concrete floor and boxy furniture is soothing (although noisy once everyone is talking). They have a nice outdoor patio in the back too (but I didn't get a picture).

Also, great coffee.

Small Space Style in Venice

Found these pictures over on A Cup of Jo and just love them. These images are the reason that I loved living in venice. Small spaces done just right. A little euro and a little fun. If I could live with this little stuff and that much space and order all the time I would. Alas, it's basically physically impossible since I love things and need stuff like 5 cake stands.

A funny aside is that I sent this to my dad and it turns out that the studio belongs to a friend of his. Small World!

If you're interested i renting it for a week at a time and spending some quality time in venice, check out the details. And if you do, tell him that Laure sent you. Then I'll give you all my tips for hanging out in Venice.

What about you? Would you be able to live in such a small space and keep it neat?

Big Red Sun Opening in Venice

I live close by and have been watching Big Red Sun build up their new store/nursery on Rose for a while. Imagine my delight when I noticed that they're OPEN! But actually, they were working hard to be open for their grand opening party tomorrow (saturday) from 1-5pm at Rose Ave and 6th in Venice. You will gasp, the place is lovely and full of color and succulents and good smells and nice people.

See you there!

Formal Beachiness

Here's a mock up of a sweet 1 bedroom I'm working on in Venice. I'm using the existing furniture and adding a dining room table and accessories to pull together a relaxed but grown up beach-y feel good for entertaining.

It needs more of the beach (which for now are only in the flowy curtains) but with some wood chairs and comfy cushions I think it'll make the transformation...It also helps that it's close to the beach, so some of the vibe is just inherent.

Flake

Flake is new and it's good, if a little on the pricey side, for what it is. Their whole thing is that they're a cereal bar, but since I'm not really into cereal I'm more into their lunches. You can get assorted paninis with a side salad. The Caprese is the best and definitely get the salad and not the chips.

Best Part? It's so close I can walk over when I'm so hungry I can't think straight.
