Enormous Champion is my hero

I checked the mail today at the office (it often gets ignored) and it turns out I had some bounty waiting for me. Enormous Champion sent me a smattering of their incredible letterpress cards as a thank you and I couldn't be more excited. The ships are my absolute favorite. I think I'll be framing these and hanging or leaning them in a line...

Thank you Enormous Champion!

Stationery Show Round Up (Part Three): Albertine Press, Pretty Bitter, Oh My Word

I'm feeling a bit better, not all the way there, but close, so I thought I'd get part 3 up before I completely forget what it was I liked. So up first is Albertine Press out of Boston. I love anything awesome or tongue in cheek. So it's a no brainer. It doesn't hurt that their cards are also pretty.

Next up is Pretty Bitter, makers of man notes and also very tongue in cheek and possibly offensive. I'll just show you my very favorite:

I don't have any good pics, but if you like what's above you'll probably also like Oh My Word.

That's it, I'm pooped. Hope you enjoyed it like I did.

Stationery Show Round Up (Part One): Enormous Champion, Orla Kiely and Snow and Graham

If I thought that ICFF was overwhelming, the stationery show was out of control. So many incredibly talented people are making incredible paper goods. (Also Martha was out in full force. What a great use of her DIY paper flowers.)

First off, brooklyn based enormous champion are awesome. They're old fashioned ship prints really do it for me. Everything they create is thoughful, beautiful and a little sassy:

Check out their website and their etsy shop for more!

We were also super (super!) excited to see some prototypes for some new Orla Kiely paper goods that will be coming out in January!

I also got to check out Snow and Graham's booth. Man, I just love them. I can't wait to get their 09 calendar and these new mini post it notepads:

I Heart Urbanic

So my first day out of bed and where do I go? Urbanic Paper Boutique on Abbott Kinney of course. The shop is small but I managed to spend an hour weighing my options. I left faint from fatigue but ecstatic for my purchases.

My gift to myself for being sick was the 2008 Snow and Graham Wall Calendar. It's a year of looking at beautiful pages. Sigh.

I also picked up some holiday cards. Some by Snow and Graham (can you tell how much I adore them?) and some from Little Oranges of California (which are hard to resist on name alone). I also got a couple of little surprises for some friends. All in all a wonderful afternoon spent. And now I am just that. Spent.

Writing Home

I've always enjoyed the art of letter and card writing. It's my way of connecting with loved ones that I don't talk to as often as I'd like and its a good excuse to buy beautiful stationery.

There is an abundance of amazing letterpress resources on the web: Carrot and Stick Press, Pancake and Franks, Lettre Sauvage (pic above), etc. Check out the Design Sponge guide to letterpress for an exhaustive report.

I just found Paper Source who have started a campaign 'inviting everyone to think about and connect on the topics of love and forgiveness with the goal of effecting meaningful change in individuals and communities. They seek to revive an interest in writing letters as a way to express kindness and deepen or renew relationships."

My sentiments exactly.
