Happy Weekend

Indulge in a fruit bowl this weekend. And by that I mean put one together full of all the colors that make it feel sunny and warm. Use that bowl/platter/cake stand you've been saving and start piling. It feels good.

Then put this song on, if you haven't already. Then, for a blast from my past, try this. Takes me back about 10 years (omg I'm old).

French inspired sailor bag

This isn't a fashion blog, but I can't help myself, I just found this bag made by Michelle Frantz. The navy blue with white buttons is so clean and crisp. A little retro, totally classic and just French nautical/sailor girl enough to sling over your shoulder and feel totally chic (and a little playful).

Yellow!

The color choices of home owners have been a hot topic recently starting here and moving on to here. It reminded me of all the yellow I've seen in my neighborhood. It looks thoroughly modern and I wonder how much of it was inspired by the blueprint article on The Stepped-Up Stoop since I know the top house (for lease everyone!) got painted last month.

Oooooh: Home things from Peek Keep

Thanks to Sunset Magazine for the Peek Keep tip. Peak Keep is a great online store that carries scandinavian design and lots of Lotta Jansdotter!

I LOVE these Botanical Etched Glasses--especially the fern:

A set of 6 juice glasses is $72. You can also use them as votives for another outdoor lighting idea!

These Snow and Graham Candles are on sale too for $20. I would order them in lily of the valley.

Home smells good (hopefully)

I read this great air freshening tip over on marthastewart.com from Kevin Sharkey (one of the editors):

"Save money on air fresheners: Add a few drops of rose oil to a small dish of water, plus a solubilizer (sold in health food stores)."

I love simple solutions and my version is to put some rosemary oil (or really any oil that you love the smell of) from the health food store onto a cotton ball or even a piece of toilet paper and drop that in the bottom of the bathroom trashcan. I have the lidded kind so everytime I throw something away, it releases a little blast of fresh scent.
