John and Mary

Recently watched this movie John and Mary with Mia Farrow and Dustin Hoffman that I had never heard of before. The film was made in '69 and I would die to have the apartment that John is living in in New York. He works as a furniture designer and yes, he designed the leather sofa.

Love all the white light fixtures, the space, the leather, the olive green cups, the windows, the weirdly angles ceilings and narrow kitchen. Almost the whole movie takes place in the apartment, but there's one flashback scene that I love that's just over-the-top colorful with Mia on the beach:

I saw this recently and thought the same exact thing! I made tons of screen shots of the apartment while I watched it on my laptop. Love all the white and slanting ceiling. In the movie Mia assumes he's married because he has such a nice place.

I thought it was a pretty good movie besides the apt. Also thought it was strange that its not more well known- it being w/ Mia and Dustin after all!

hahah when I first saw the title and photo I thought these were friends of yours, like from Paris or something. And then my brain seriously went, in about 2 secons - "whoa, that guy looks like Dustin Hoffman, does Laure have a friend that looks like Dustin Hoffman? Is... is she somehow friends with Dustin Hoffman and... and I didn't know, but, wait. oh". wow.

Yeah J--you know, me just chilling with M and D, normal saturday afternoon. That would be awesome, sadly it was just a movie (and a dream!).

The actual sofa designer, interestingly enough, is Massimo Vignelli. It is part of the Saratoga collection which debuted right around the time this movie came out!
