The Paint Debacle

So...we had a little...issue with the paint. Turns out Ben Moore Green Mist is actually...light blue and not a greeny grey like I thought it was from the chip. And I did NOT want a light blue house. And we move in on saturday. So, yeah I've been dealing with finding the perfect color grey that does not turn blue or purple once it's on the walls. I have spent a fortune. I have spent time. I am spent.

BUT, I am still maintaining excitement for the move (thanks mom for coming over and helping pack today!) and really excited to see what 'racoon fur' looks like in the kitchen.

More images soon!

Hi, I've been following your blog.
The beige paint in my house turns to cream or gray depending on the room and the lighting.

Good luck on finding the perfect gray!

Oh the ignominy! You won't be the first or the last person this has ever happened to. Bon Courage!

I don't know if it helps at all, but I recently painted my room with Farrow & Ball's Pavillion Grey, and it's a very grey grey to my eye. Although some have said it has a blue undertone, so perhaps not helpful at all!

ouch! it's SO frustrating when that happens.
I am now a firm believer in buying test pots.

I feel your pain. That is why my dining room is a light blue...thought it would be more gray. I'm also looking for the perfect grey color. If I come up with somethings I certainly will let you know. :)

Good luck moving!

Oh, been there! I bought a beautiful grey with a greenish hue for our bedroom that turned out to be a soft green with maybe a wee touch of grey if you squint your eyes in the right light while wearing sunglasses. Oddly, I've grown to love it...paint is funny that way. Good luck! Can't wait to see more...

I have revere pewter (BM) in my living and dining room and it is grey with a green undertone. Have you read this blog post? Very informative.

I spent months trying to find a grey I like until I just bit the bullet and went with Stone 04 from Yolo Colorhouse. It is greeny grey and lovely.

that's why I asked you about the gray in that bedroom picture, Laure. I am swatching for a gray that is not blue, not green, and not a concrete colored blah.

Thanks all above for the suggestions.
