Just in time for spring

Ha! I love these nest egg piggy banks from mudpuppy along with the egg shaped bud vases with a nautical and/or cask wine feel; just in time for springy spring.

I just noticed that my can planters got featured on a blog called dude craft. dude. crafts for dudes. dude.

Brickhouse Etsy Shop

I've featured Morgan's house on AT a bunch of times because I absolutely covet her thrift store style and only just noticed that she has an incredible etsy shop (with really good prices) filled with her vintage finds.

Yay, finally got word on CB2 opening their first LA location at Sunset Plaza on April 30th! Can't wait to see their summer fare and all their cool party accessories in person.

Lest you think I'm always tidy

Here's my desk at the bf's--the dining room table. I get use of it during the day and then clean it off for dinner time. Last week though I was so burnt out that this is what it looked like and how I worked and ate on it for a couple days. Note the kids' placemats with crusted cereal and the dead flowers. Nice touches, right? Also why is there a hairbrush and aloe on the table next to where I'm eating? I know.

But I don't think it's any secret that I secretly love this kind of messiness. It's got color, texture, isn't a total gross out and can be cleaned pretty rapidly.

Anything with a slide

Looking for architecture stuff to write about over on Dwell, I found this old project of Hiroshi Nakamura that involves peeling up a layer of the ground to form the roof of a house and then adding a slide to get from top to bottom. What's not to love? the Japanese do such a good job of making serious architecture with surprising (and light hearted) elements.

Living Arrangements

Man, I keep coming across stuff I want to share. Like using old tins for potting succulents! From LIving Arrangements in LA who, maybe obviously, offer potted succulents in place of cut flowers, like Succulent LA.

Helveticake

Sorry if this offends you. I think this is F-ing brilliant, the right blend of profanity, font and sweetness. From here.

EXCITING UPDATE
Squid Ink the LA Weekly Food Blog wrote up a whole great article on the people behind this cake and they gave me some link love, awwwww.

Daylight Savings

Happy Daylight Savings to everyone! I love longer days, although getting up this morning made me curse the heavens. This looks like a busy week so in case I don't get a chance to post more, consider this your weekly ration.

I've been assisting a designer on loft installs downtown and I feel like I'm learning leaps and bounds. It's great to be getting hands on experience with 'staging' an interior. I definitely have too much stuff. But with the right storage, I too can make my place look photo ready....

Inspired, I cleaned up my venice place and took a couple of photos:

It definitely looks better with less and I took the time to hang some things, to toss some things and to add flowers. I love this place.

I also love these apothecary inspired jars by Elizabeth Lyons. Great colors, great scale.

And um I totally got to meet Eddie and his bf Jaithan and they were awesome. We met for a drink yesterday and then today I got to tag along with them on their tour of the Rose Bowl swap meet. They were fun and down to earth and man, Eddie knows his stuff, it was great to watch him comb through the market. I'll be writing more about that on AT later this week!

I've been WAY overworking and under sleeping so I posted all about pampering yourself on AT. Check out some Homemade Spa Recipes to inspire you to take a time out. And breathe.

I'm working on a couple of projects at the bf's place and it's making me crazy that I don't have time to do/finish them. The entry way is getting a whole new system (the old system was a bench+everyone's stuff+time+I forget what's there = OMG I'm going to loose my shit) and the new system is a bench+bins+hooks+accountability. I also really (really!) want to plant some herbs here to hopefully inspire me to do a weekend grocery shopping excursion so that I cook during the week and don't rely on the Whole Foods ready to eat area and/or pizza and/or cookie dough.

Also, Urban Outfitter has a ceramic percolator on display. I want it. They do not sell it on their website.

And finally, I've been winding down my days with this book and it's great. For some reason I was concerned it might be a little dry or too foodie (I love food and food books so I'm not sure why that worried me) but it's just the right amount memoir/paris/food.

How is the start of Spring looking for you? And how freaked out are you that somehow it's already March? I know. Me too. Enjoy yourselves, talk to you soon.

I love Vietnamese Food and Foot Massages

Over the weekend I had a chance to make it out to Alhambra for some really yummy vietnamese food (and iced coffee) and an hour long foot massage (for $20). Now if I could find a way to do that everyday, I'd be all set.

Everything is Amazing and Nobody's Happy

This has been around the internet, but if you haven't seen it, watch it now. Louis CK is my hero.

Great Idea

can be used to write a phone number or e-mail, wipe your nose, place your gum in, make mini-footballs, write secret messages, or just supplement your daily fiber intake.
