Apartment Therapy Offices
I finally made it to the new AT offices to meet some of my blogging compatriots face to face. It was great. I got sandwiches with managing editor Aaron and Sarah C and even had a chance to visit with Maxwell before he jetted off to Brazil!
The office is exactly what you would expect: it feels clean and organized (it was so quiet too with everyone tap tap tapping!) and there is great light, a great view and even plants.
(this one was an experiment with a new tilt shift app for the iPhone).

Jon and Tyke's Modern Cabin
Remember that Sunset Magazine article I wrote about Jon and Tyke's Topanga Canyon cabin? Well, if you're curious to see more, I posted a house tour with a bunch more pictures on AT the other day. It's such a great house and Jon and Tyke are such an inspiration, happy they let me broadcast it to the world!

Erin and Chris's Fantastic Fixer Upper
If you haven't seen this house tour from a while back, be sure to check out Erin and Chris's Fantastic Fishtown Fixer Upper. It's a treasure trove of inspiration. Mainly I love how they scavenged or built most of what's in the house but it doesn't look like a flea market, it looks modern, comfortable and full of individual style.
Here's the link.

TGIF and a House Tour
I feel all vulnerable and exposed, but I've posted a tour of my apartment on Apartment Therapy from before I moved out. There are still so many things I want to do. But I guess I'm a good example of someone that's into this, doesn't spend much money and I just like to live simply with pretty things. Check it out.

How was your weekend?
Mine was wet.
The thunder and lightening was so incredible on friday night that I got out of bed to watch it from the living room. I guess that was a good thing because when I got back to the bedroom it was raining inside, on my bed and down the walls. Arg.
After totally melting down for so many obvious reasons (uh did I mention they found mold in my apartment last year and a 3 week remediation ended up taking 3 months. 3 months of me couch surfing and developping a crazy case of insomnia) the silver lining is that i found a great sublet around the corner for the same price as the 'motel' that my landlord was offering to put me up in. This time around it should only take 2 weeks to repair the damage. We'll see. They have to rip out the old drywall and replace the ceiling (oh and fix the roof?), dry the walls out and then re-drywall, paint, etc.
Oh did I mention my birthday is friday. Ugh.

Look! Progress!
I bought frames! Inspired by sfgirlbybay's redesign of her living room I embraced the Ikea Ribba frame and have placed them where I think I might want them. Now I just need to find what goes inside (oh and after months of thinking I would make the deer into a pillow, I followed my mom's advice and framed it. She was right, it is better framed).

More Mid Century from Urban
So after Grace's lovely fainting couch post yesterday on AT, the last thing I was thinking was mid century. And then I saw the Convertible Sofa at Urban Outfitters. It's a sofa, it's a bed (thus possibly solving some, ahem, sleeping issues). It's mid century cool. It's on sale. I currently have a danish modern brown sofa and armchair that I've been on the fence about for a while. The wood base is blonde and with hard wood floors, it's just all so ... brown.
That's why I love the crisp white base on this convertable and the fact that you could sleep on it (or have a houseguest sleep on it. It also seems like a fun piece to have outside (I guess on a covered patio) for parties and lounging. I do wonder about the quality though. It looks a little 'wrinkley' in some spots. Anyone haveany experience with it? Or anything from Urban?

La Vie en Rose
I am loving touches of a slightly darker, more sophisticated pink.
This photo in particular makes me smile. (From Marie Claire Maison)
This is small but it's a swath of pink in an all white bedroom. The blog is in french, but if you translate it, it's quite sweet.

Container Gardening
I live on the second floor and have an itty bitty balcony so I'm always looking out for great container gardens. I took a little trip to Descanso the other day and was most impressed with the design and planting of these containers:

Home away from Home: Paris
The wallpaper post below inspired me to tell you about Genevieve, my French grandmother, and her apartment. She lives in Paris, she is a weaver and, to me, her apartment has been home. I realize now that her art background and love of flea markets has made her apartment a truly ecelctic mix of old and new and somehow, so french.
