Let The Right One In

I'm probably late to the train on this one, but I watched Let The Right One In recently (it's available on Netflix on Demand, the greatest leap of technology in my lifetime, I'm pretty sure) and the photography of it blew me away. The film itself is quiet with punctuations of drama, and the cinematography follows suit: wide open angles, landscapes reduced to geometry and textures thrown into contrast by moments of intense darkness or color.

I'll have to find more of cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema's work.

Great selection of images, this was a gorgeous film. They're coming out with a US version (surprise, surprise) and it will be interesting to see how they adapted it.

I loved this movie. I saw it last year in the theatre and I was very taken by it - the story, and yes Laure, the cinematography - OMG. I was sad to hear that they are re-making it here in the states. I wish we could just make the original popular and enjoy it the way it was made!

yeah between this and them remaking the girl with the dragon tattoo series, I'm let down. I think the Swedes do an amazing job with film and visuals and storytelling (and interiors!) and then we come in and muck it all up!

brilliant film! I loved the way they shot this film. And loved the relationship between the two young main characters.
